do any of you buy clothes early for next summer? i thought this might be a cheap way to get my daughter stuff for next year... shes four months now. and ive never shopped in advance before, i just dont want to be left with a bunch of stuff next year that is too small. any thoughts, or tips? thanks!
I bought some things for my son for next year. Granted, he's three and sizing is a bit more predictable.
I must have missed this by a few hours - mostly everything's out of stock!
Thanks! I just ordered two dresses, four shirts, four pairs of jeans, and a pair of shorts for less than $50, including tax/shipping! I can't believe they have the jeans for $4.99/pair.
The website is absolutely horrible. I've been trying all day. I finally got in, put things in my shopping cart, only to be booted out again. I really cannot believe their server is this bad. Now I can't get back on to finish and pay. Oy!
I stopped in the store last night and they didn't have the selection or the great prices of online.
I don't usually buy stuff a year ahead just because I'm so afraid of being stuck with stuff that is not the right size.
I always buy a year ahead, anon. My daughter is 16 mos (wearing 18 mos) and she has been pretty true to size so far. If it's too big/small next year you can always trade with a friend.
I was just at the Children's Place in Kansas City and they have the 50% off. I used a 15% off coupon and an extra 10% bonus from my credit card and got 15 items including shorts, hats, and shoes for $30! Yup...average of $2 per item!
I haven't compared prices with the website but there was a mom returning stuff she purchased online because it was significantly cheaper in the store (but she may have bought it before the 50% off started).
So is the price listed the 50% off price? Or do they take the additional 50% off at checkout?
The server was a bit slow but I managed to get great stuff. I did the best finding things in the newborn section for my 8 month old to finish out the summer. I also found him some great shoes too! I ended up with 2 hats, 2 shirts, 2 pair of shoes and a pair of shorts for $20 including shipping...can't beat that! Like I said, the selection in the bigger boys was slim...I didn't find anything for next year and I'm a little scared to buy shoes ahead of time? I don't shop at CP much...do they have a good shoe selection in the stores?
they are marked at 50% off already but with the code you'll get your additional 15%!
At the CP you can return for cash if you keep your receipt and tags for 6 months. After that you can get store credit with tags and receipt no matter how long it has been. I found this out after throwing away my receipt and giving away a bunch of clothes that my daughter couldn't wear that I bought at last years monster sale.So it can't hurt to shop ahead.
Got:
2 shirts
2 shorts
2 pair of shoes (1 sandal/1 sneaker)
For:
$18.58 including shipping!
Yeah!
I'm also a little leary about buying clothes for next summer. My daughter is 20 months and is currently wearing 18 months and I don't fore see her growing out of that size any time soon. I, too, would hate to spend money on clothes that she wouldn't be able to wear.
I have a preschooler and a baby. I've bought clothes in the past for the next year. My kids like the previous post said, are usually right on track, so 3 yrs old 3T, etc. I do think TCP runs a little bigger too so it usually has "growth" room.
Whew, I finally got in! That took hours and hours. Our daughter is 20 months and currently wearing 24mo & 2T. She is even wearing some 3T shirts, so I got her all 4T for next year. I'd rather have things too big then too small.
Four pairs of jeans, three pairs of pedal pushers/capris, four shirts, and two sets of pajamas for $54. Good deal!! Thanks very much for the extra code.
I got
3 shirts(2 of them polo)
1 pair of mesh shorts
1 pair of jean shorts
2 pairs of shoes(1 sandal,1 sneaker)
all for 29.03! Not Bad!!! Thanks Angie! I love this site and check it multiple times aday. The Childrens Place site was VERY SLOW and having issues connecting, so finding things took FOREVER! oh well, it was worth the time.
Hey - do your readers know about ebates? Do YOU know about ebates? It's awesome and I'd be happy to do a guest post about it... Let me know.

I have noticed that the boys' clothes (especially shirts) run big, and the girls' clothes (especially shirts) run small. I have to buy my daughter, who is always in the 25-50% on weight, a size or two bigger in CP shirts because they are so tight, but my son, who is always in the 90%, can wear a smaller size in CP shirts than in other brands.
Did anyone notice that some of the prices are the same from the 30% off and the 50% off? I see them do this all the time and it drives me nuts. Then the server is SO SLOW.
The server was WAY too slow for me last night so I went to the store. I got about $21 items, shorts, panties, shirts, skirts, dresses for $72! I was thrilled. My daughter just started wearing 4T at the age of 3 1/2, so I mostly bought her sz 5 for next summer. The good thing for me is that we are in FL , so we wear warm weather clothes longer than most. PLUS....I ahve a 2 year old daughter, so it's like double dipping when I buy clothes.
I had put a bunch of stuff in my cart on Mon. I wasn't sure I was going to buy so I saved it. When I went back on yesterday, I saw it was dropped to 50% off. I took that as a sign to purchase it all write away. I saved an extra $15 dollars but waiting to the next day. I bought my son 16 things for next summer and it was 48 with shipping. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I shouldn't be an ingrate, but does anyone know how CP can keep their prices so low? Do they support inhumane labor practices somewhere that I should know about? I mean, even the regular prices are decent...
Huh? How much do you think children's clothes should cost?
Went in store today and bought a tank top, capri pants and a bathing suit all for $8.50!
I don't think their normal prices are that low? I'm sure they do use outsourced labor with barely paid workers though, just like pretty much every other large clothing company(expensive or cheap..).
Here's a link to Children's Place policy on manufactoring. Hope that helps.

8 pairs of short
14 shirts
22 items
$74.99 with shipping!
7 shirts, 2 skirts, 1 short, 2 jeans, 1 pair shoes all for less than $50 after tax and shipping!!! I checked out the outlet store here in KC and the prices were better online by a dollar or two an item and the stock wasn't much better either. Shop online, it saves gas :-)
For those who regularly shop at Children's Place (or at least the sales), I hope you have a Place Perks card (www.placeperks.com) as it tracks your spending and you get $10 if you spend $75, even on sale stuff.
Our local outlet store has great stuff on the sale. We got 16 items for next summer for $40. I got size 24 months, he is now wearing 12 or 18. I figure as long as it fits between April and August it works.
Just stocked up for next summer this morning. 18 things for $47, avg ~$2-3 per item, plus a pair of shoes! I also passed by the Old Navy and got some winter stuff super cheap in their sale.
